Operation planned

Well here I am back from UCLH with both good and bad news -
Bad news first: my cyst is about the size of a grapefruit and needs taking away very soon. Unsure whether it is malignant or not - this will only be known once all the tests are complete. Had another PV scan done yesterday and had the Top Man come in to check it out. It is proposed I go in for operating on 7th October - 14 days befroe my 50th!! I have to attend UCLH again on Friday to have a scan done of my complete trunk to rule out further growths or tumours. Then have a follow up appt in 2 weeks.
Good news: Ms Macdonald, my consultant, is confident that whatever the outcome of all these tests, she can remove whatever is there by operation alone. The extent of the operation depends on the results - best case scenario: cyst removed; worst case scenario: removal of all connets of womb and surrounding area.

My emotions are all over the place right now. Changing on a minute to minute basis - I had a go at Graham this morning for no particular reason, burst into tears of relief when Neil said he was on his way over and feel elated to the brim at other times because I know I am in the treatment circle and being seen to quickly.

I am a member of a crafting forum and have some great buddies on there, in particular Mo-Mo, Rosie and Finlee and they have been great.

Right now, all I want to do is snuggle down with Misty (our cat) on the couch and stick my head in a good book. So off I go on a cat hunt..............................bye. If I go out and shout Puss Puss Garfield from next door comes running too!! He he. Heaven - two cats on my lap purring away.!!

  2. Hello dearest. I don't know you, but reading your blog brings me back to my own history with an ovarian cyste several years ago, and I do feel so for you. If you got operated on yesterday, I hope that you now are recovering and that the operation went very well and that it was not cancerous.
I have felt so many of the same thoughts and frights that you have, it is completely scary having something like that growing inside you, not knowing what it is. It sure sets things into perspective and things we before never thought of is suddenly very present in our lives.
I am sending you all my love and good healing thoughts hoping that everything went well for you.
    Greetings from Tonje in Norway

  3. Hi Sheila
I found your wee blog via Docrafts and just had to leave you a message!!
I went through just what your going through in June last year! It can tell you it was a terrible shock, especially being only 25!
My cyst, like yours was about the size of a grapefruit and thankfully was not cancer! This did lead them to find that my ovaries were fused to my plevis and needed futher surgery!
Like Tonje says above, its puts things into perspective. God works in strange ways but its all for a reason! If I hadnt have had the cyst I would never have found out what had been causing my pain for so many years. Also due to the pain and other medical problems I may have had my womb removed, which i'm thankful I didnt. My mum had ovarian cancer when I was still at school and it was the most scariest thing we went through! But now shes re=training to be a nurse, re-married and acting like a teenager again(wouldnt think shes turning 50 next year)
I now have a whole new life full of hope for the future! I have the most wonderful husband, just adore him, a mad dog who makes me smile and a family who are always there!!
If you need anyting just drop me a line on my Blog! Take care huni, crafting helps hee
    Love Melly xxx
